Capability · Architecture & Infrastructure

Architecture that appreciates.

Twenty-five years across industries designing complex systems where the architecture determines value capture.

01 Capability

We design and build complex systems — energy markets, distributed platforms, AI infrastructure, real-time industrial systems. We operate across the full stack of architecture: enterprise platforms, distributed systems, data architecture, cloud, edge, and on-device.

02 Domains
01

Enterprise & solutions architecture

System-level design across organisations — where components, platforms, and teams coordinate.

02

Distributed & event-driven systems

Microservices, event-driven platforms, and multi-node architectures designed for coordination at scale.

03

Real-time & high-performance systems

Low-latency mission-critical architectures — energy, trading, IoT, SCADA, streaming — where correctness and speed are required.

04

Integration & API platforms

REST, GraphQL, streams, events, and platform integration at any scale.

05

Data architecture

Enterprise data strategy, pipelines, ontologies, lakes and warehouses — data as an asset rather than a blockade.

06

Multi-cloud infrastructure

AWS, Azure, GCP — cloud architecture, migration, and production environments with governance, security and uptime requirements.

07

Edge & on-device infrastructure

Where compute and state live outside the datacentre — browser, mobile, device, edge node.

08

Production systems, CI/CD

Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, infrastructure as code. The daily operations of shipping enterprise-grade technology.

09

Security & zero-trust design

Authentication, authorisation, multi-level encryption, zero-trust system design, cryptographic integrity across boundaries.

03 Our position

Our approach to architecture is to align immediate requirements with what is needed in six, twelve, or eighteen months — and with what is being hinted at around the corner but not yet on the table. Short-horizon thinking accumulates debt. Long-horizon thinking without the present in view overbuilds. The discipline is holding both at once.

Done well, architecture produces technology that appreciates with use — infrastructure that compounds as the business grows into it, rather than eroding under it. Architecture done poorly costs twice as much in round two. Architecture done well means future decisions cost less, and the platform absorbs change rather than fighting it.

This is where the firm's hands-on depth of expertise delivers true value for clients. We design systems across the full stack — enterprise design, data layer, integration seams, and the components themselves — and then build them, or embed with the team that will. Performance, cost, operability, and the capacity to change — these are the axes every decision is weighed against.

Good architecture that provides alignment with what the business needs today and what it must become next — costs nothing extra at the design stage, saves a mint in round two.

Ongoing Alignment
04 In practice

Where this work shows up.

Multi-branded CMS reformation

A transformation programme migrating and consolidating content assets and creation pipelines across Fairfax's print and digital portfolio into a single content management system. Content management for one of Australia's largest media organisations.

Multi-tenant AI SaaS platform

Multi-tenant SaaS architecture for an AI productivity platform serving property managers. Advanced search and retrieval at the core. End-to-end engagement from technology strategy through to market launch and ongoing scale.

Enterprise orchestration & multi-level encryption

Enterprise-wide orchestration platform coordinating microservices, data platforms, AI models, ML computation, and human workflows. Plus a multi-level encryption platform for sensitive data across organisational boundaries.

Government platform & enterprise CMS

A custom platform for cross-government agency energy planning, and enterprise-wide content management system upgrade across a multi-year roadmap. Both engagements at one of Australia's largest energy companies.

Energy market trading platform

Real-time local energy market (LEM) trading platform for the joint UK–EU energy partnership. Delivered to precise industry standards for advanced market mechanisms and contract settlements across regulatory boundaries.

5-minute energy market upgrade

Components of the 5-minute Western Australia energy market system upgrade. Real-time market operations and settlement at regulatory precision.

Energy market analytics platform

A data lake analytics platform with real-time intelligence into AEMO raw energy market data. On Azure, designed for the scale and continuity required by a regulatory authority.

SCADA & IoT for mining operations

Software engine for SCADA telemetry across mining operations. Terabytes of data from a distributed industrial fleet, flowing into an analytics platform for operational decision-making at scale.

Architecture for global fintech operation

Event-driven platform spanning 80+ ebanking microservices with real-time payments gateway integration. Scalable data lake on AWS, plus a credit-driven cryptocurrency exchange and settlements platform. Correctness, auditability, and low latency — all three non-negotiable.
